Do you have any Projects set to the Template status?
2014-02-26 03:36
yes I have a few set as template. even with said in the past you could import from any status

Hello, i have got the same problem passage V3.0 to 3.1
2014-02-27 00:04
As of v3.1 you can only import from Projects designated as Templates.

Further, within the System Admin you have to manually set your "Template Projects Status Id" within System Admin->System Configuration to be the proper Status Id.

It's ok when i change " Template Projects Status Id " 6 to 0 or 1.
not display all projects after. But it's better
Thank you

I think this is a major bug.

see my comments in forum.

Having to set and then reset the status of a project if I want to import tasks is absolutely error prone.

To get tasks from project A into project B, I need to change status of project A? That is totally unacceptable, that I need to change A to update B.

And then maybe someone forgets to set the status back to what it was?
This is unpractical. It will screw up our databases if people are even a little bit careless.

Or: in order to be able to import, you set the project to template, . After importing, do you still remember its original status? It may not be your own project you copied, so you might be at a loss.

Unless we have a project copy elsewhere, this feature should be deactivated.
This feature really frightens me, because people need to mess with the db or projects settings in order to get their work done. Not all project workers are knowledgeable about project planning, the importance of status, or they may just be newly trained or careless.

What the new feature also prevents is, for repeating projects, an improvement of project flow like:
1) have a template 2) make it a project 3) do this project and improve flow 4) convert it (import) into a new template -> restart at 2)

I agree that it's error-prone but I have yet to come up with a better solution..

The problem is that if you have a lot of projects, the dropdown slows down the page loading and at 900 items the dropdown fails to render at all.

Would a better solution be a free form text box that does a lookup as you type?

yes, definitely better than the current solutiom.

or have a setting in sysadmin whether all statusses or only templates to be displayed.
Currently, because of some users with 900+ projects all others cannot use the import task feature whithout resetting the status for the import source.

I would not want anybody to have to do that because I can't guarantee that they remember to set the status back - very error prone.
